Have you always wanted to learn to play a musical instrument? Or get back into the rhythm after a long break from playing without it costing a small fortune? The Sound Space is a free music project to give Places for People customers an opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument or sing from the comfort of their homes.  

The Sound Space Project is supported by the Places Foundation Impact Fund. We are committed to help passionate people learn new skills and reach their full potential, so whether you are a complete beginner or you’ve had music lessons in the past, we are here help you.

What can I learn?

We can offer you a programme of one-to-one tuition in the following instruments:

  • violin / viola
  • guitar / bass guitar
  • singing
  • ukulele
  • piano for beginners
  • mandolin for beginners

Our experienced music tutors will tailor fun and informal virtual music lessons to suit your needs. We cater to most styles of music and ability levels including complete beginners.

How does a virtual music lesson work?

Weekly sessions will take place from the comfort of your home using either your phone, tablet, or computer to video into the music lesson through Microsoft Teams. These sessions will take place on weekdays during the daytime. Most students will already have their own instruments, but we will try our best to help those who want to get involved and might need an instrument.
