Customer volunteers joined staff from Places Homes to take part in the national Keep Britain Tidy's Great British Spring Clean campaign.
Events were held in 11 different locations between 8 and 23 April.
The combined efforts of the events saw over 200 volunteers take part to clean up the environment, with over 600 bags of litter being collected.
Everyone helped to clear litter off the streets and supported improvement to their local environments. It was great to see the involvement and commitment of young people across several sites helping to make a real difference.
Local resident and a customer volunteer at the Preston event, Mihaela Ifrim, said: “The day was a brilliant success and we all had such a good time pulling together to improve our area. I went with my two sons to teach them the importance of looking after the area we live in."
Head of Neighbourhoods, Mark Viggars said: “This project is part of our approach and commitment of managing and providing places where people want to live – and echoes our ethos of building communities that thrive, today and in the long term.”
“Throughout the project we’ve supported housing schemes in 11 different areas across the UK, arranging litter picks, clean-ups and a range of other environmental improvements. It’s been a great success and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved.”
The Great British Spring Clean, organised by charity Keep Britain Tidy, has been the country's most successful mass participation environmental campaign ever. The initiative saw well over 500,000 people take part in 17,000 clean-up events across the country. Keep Britain Tidy have reported that volunteers collected an astronomical amount of close to one billion bags of litter!
Well done to everyone who got involved and helped make difference to their environments.
